Wizard World philly 2009

Postby Michael » Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:00 pm

I realize it still early but i figure we should at least get a tentative idea of whose planing on trying to attend WW next year. The reason being that if we are planing on doing group costuming we need to get a jump start on that. I of course will be going. Please make a quick post if you plan to attend. feel free to also list any costume ideas you may have.

Definitely in. Plan on working the whole thing, making the whole costuming issue moot, but I might have an idea or two. I'd love to go as Kyle Rayner, and I think it'd be cool to bust out the Corp as a theme. I also think it'd be interesting to look into villains, because not enough people rock the villains, especially the more obscure ones...

Wow, what a show. I have to say that despite a few hiccups (really Wizard? Bracelets and not badges? *sigh*) this was an awesome show.

Originally I was concerned due to the fact that Marvel and DC both decided against having booths at the show. However, since I rarely care to visit their booths anyway, it had very little impact on my enjoyment. Instead I took the opportunity to hang out & say hi to some of our friends in the industry, get some great original artwork, and do some "dumpster diving" (i.e. searching for great con deals).

Special thanks go to the following cool Cats and Kittens for being, well, cool:

Mark McKenna
Mark Poulton, Matthew Tow, Stephen Sistilli, and the rest of the Arcana gang
Joe Benitez
Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner
Edward James Olmos & Michael Hogan
Sean!

Last but not least, my thanks to a great group of fellow con-goer's:
Emma, Angus, Kurt, Mike, Rich, Marcus, and Chaz & Felicia.

I had a great time with youse mugs. Hopefully the predictions regarding WWPhilly 2010 are way off and next June we'll be enjoying Asia on the Parkway again!

It truly was an exceptional show. I have a few people I'd like to add to the "thanks for being awesome" list:

Garth Ennis
Steve Dillion
JM Linser (got a love a guy who doesn't charge for a simple sketch!!!)
the guys from Zenescope (who ran a great panel on writing for comics)

You also have to admit, Blood was freakin' AWESOME!!!!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on that movie. All in all, it was my favorite Philly trip and I hope to do it again next year!!!!!!!!!!

So the dates for WW Philly 2010 are already up; 11-13 June 2010.

Watch this site for more details:

Here's hoping it isn't billed directly opposing Heroes Con again, that was a bummer. :x

Definitely count me in, and hopefully I'll be ready with the sandman outfit.
