WZARD WORLD PHILLY IS ALMOST HERE!!

Postby kuthell » Tue Apr 15, 2008 5:17 pm

April 30 - June 1 are the dates for WW Philly. As we have the last few years, a group of us WizKids gamers will be attending and some of us will be working at the con. Envoys, sigh up if you plan to work.

So as a group, for travel, lodging and food, we are planning on $150 -$200 per person. This may be a little high, but better safe than sorry. The hotel we stayed at was three blocks from the con, we are looking into this place again. Now is the time to get some firm commitment from folk who want to go. Who is up for a road trip?

Quick amendment here, but it's May 30 to June 1.

Also, I am in. I applied to work the Wizkids booth (as did all the other envoys, I think!), but will be there regardless!!!

Unless things have changed, my car's already full. I'm really looking forward to this trip....

As the lucky soul who got to coordinate the trip for the last two years, here are some suggestions to everyone considering this trip;

1) Take the following Monday off if at all possible. It's a long drive back from Philly and most of us refused to leave until the Con staff kicked us out!

2) Buy your Pass and commit to the trip. There's been a lot of talk about who's going and what not, time to put your $$$ where your mouths are. I cannot emphasize how discouraging it is to plan a trip only to have someone back out and force costs to be readjusted again and again.

3) Coordinate your rides. Last year I think 10 of us went down and it took three cars. Make sure you know who you are driving with (don't forget your buddy!)

4) Rooms. If folk can commit to the trip without equivocation, then it's time to look at rooms. Emma and I are already considering our reservations. If you need help with this, I am happy to lend my experience.

5) Cost. $150-200 may sound like a lot, but factor this; Last year the hotel ran everyone about $160; parking for each car was $25 daily for three days; gas was, well, a little cheaper than this year(!); and a 3 day pass for WW Philly is $45.

Now, if we get more than 10 people, costs may go down a bit, but then we are looking at possibly a third car and room. Again, the sooner folk chime in the faster hard numbers can be locked down and we can figure this out.

I applaud Kurt for getting the ball rolling on this. Last year almost gave me a heart attack as we had folk waffling right up until the week of the Con! This year, I am hoping the experience will be more pleasant on the logistics side. However, there's only about 5 solid weeks before the Con.

ARE YOU IN?!

Well, thanks to finances being what they are, it's looking more like I will NOT be making it.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and I'll be explaining it more at the store if people want/need said explanation.

Well, that clears up room in my car. Question for those riding w/me, anyone object to cigars for the drive down? It's something of a tradition for me to have a cigar on a road trip, but if there are any objections LMK...

Oh, so that's it? I'm just a spot in your car? I'm crushed!!!

Seriously, this was just made so that I could say I MADE 200 POSTS! WOOO!!!!!

Granted, that doesn't make up for the fact that I'm not doing Philly... But meh, I'll take the victories where I can get them!

You call that a victory? You try reaching 200 posts when you only get only three times a week and see how easy it is!!! Now that's a victory!!! Sinestro says "Bring it"!!!! And yes, you are just a spot in my car. Actually, you count as two spots....

You're cold as ice, Chaz.

On the upside, now that I can't go, your gas mileage will improve dramatically!

Dude, the only reason I'm not colder than ice is because I have to be somewhat nice on these forums, otherwise I'd be LOX. I am looking forward to the improved mileage, but I will miss the bad jokes....
