New Pathfinder player interested in playing on Wednesdays

Postby CribLizard » Sun Jan 30, 2011 4:08 pm

As the topic says, I've just gotten the Pathfinder Core Rulebook and the Advanced Player's Guide, and am interested in learning to play Pathfinder with you guys. I've heard about the bi-weekly playgroups meeting on every other Wednesday, and was wondering if you had room for a brand new player. I've never played any other tabletop rpgs, so this will be my first time.

If you've got room, what would you suggest I bring with me? And where exactly does the group meet up?

Thanks for your help, hope to see you guys on a Wednesday soon!

Hi,

Our next biweekly game is going to be on Wednesday, 2/9, but I think we're going to squeeze in an extra one this Wednesday, 2/2. We play from 6:40 pm to 11:00 pm in the game space that is around the corner from Quarterstaff on Main St. There's an awning for the tattoo place above the door. Go in there and go up to the third floor - that's where we play.
You can play any Pathfinder Society approved character class that you like. This is a public game so the people attending vary.
The Pathfinder Core Rulebook is all you'll really need unless you're using a class or equipment out of one of the other books in which case it's encouraged to have that book as well.
We definitely do have openings for new players; again, it's a public game so we're open to all comers. You'll find that there's a certain set of people who come pretty frequently, but new players are common too and are quite welcome.

That sounds fantastic! Would you suggest that I roll a character up before the game, or will I be able to make one with the rest of the players? I've never made one before, so I don't want to try on my own and end up inadvertently breaking the rules. I'd like to play an Alchemist, if you've got room for one...Cleric or Monk if that'll work better.

Thanks for your help!

It'd be best if you make up a character beforehand. It takes a bit of time and it's hard to squeeze it in before we start playing. Don't worry too much about inadvertently breaking a few rules. There are many of them and all of us run afoul of them from time to time. We try to help each other stay on the straight and narrow.
We use a 20 point buy (pg 15-16 in the main Pathfinder book) and it would be useful for you to look at the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play available on the paizo.com site. You should play whatever class you prefer; the party composition is different every time so there's no sense in trying to fill a particular party need.

Well, looks like I will have a Dwarven Monk rolled up for Wednesday night's game. I don't have a miniature for this character yet (Still being shipped from Reaper Miniatures), but other than that I think I'll have everything I need.

Can't wait to get into the game with you guys, see you there!
