Convert Your Characters

Postby mattmiller » Thu Aug 20, 2009 11:00 am

Hi Gang,

Now is the time to convert your characters to the new Pathfinder RPG rules. Paizo has published a new "Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized Play." It is available for free on their website www.paizo.com You will have to keep your character name, your level and your faction. Everything else you can change! You will also have to give up all your gold and equipment. Converted characters will get new gold (equal to more than you had before) and you will need to re-purchase items using the new Pathfinder RPG book.

Adventures #29 and above are using the new rules. I think we can still run the Year Zero adventures before we convert our characters. The question is, will we all be ready to play the new Year One adventures for this Wednesday? Should we use this Wednesday's session to run an old module? Maybe we should all get together and convert our characters as a group? What does everyone think?

I think it should be easy enough to use the new rules for the old moduals as they are not that different its not like we went from 3.5 to 4.0 or something.

The problem is that once we convert our characters everything gets reset to zero. We lose all of our stuff and none of the adventures chronicles from Year Zero count anymore. The company statement was that Year Zero was just a playtest year and that is why they are choosing to invalidate all of the results. Oh, and by the way, there is no faction winner for Year Zero. Again, they tell us after the fact, that Year Zero doesn't count so that there was no tabulation of prestige awards and no faction gained control of Absalom for one year.

So it looks like there is no reason to play any more of the Year Zero adventures - other than to go through the stories or to kill time until everyone is ready to convert.

My question is, when do you think we will all be ready to play Year One adventures? Everyone needs to convert their characters and a GM has to read adventure #29. I'm not sure that we can get there by this Wednesday night.

Good point. I am sure some of us would like to level first before converting so it is actually a valid question. I'm sure Luke would like to make to at least lvl 2 like most of us.

DOH!!! So basically, I just bought Scenarios 7-10 for nothing!!!! What is this Wizards??? Anyhow, I vote we play an old module. I am ready to run 7, I have bought the next three, and not everyone has access to the book quite yet. So if we don't have to convert our characters, I don't think we should. Besides I am not ready to convert Jaques... still trying to figure out what to do with him.

Oh well, I have also downloaded Scenario 29 (and 30 because it is a two part adventure) and I can get that ready for tomorrow too... but I would rather run 7 for the above reasons.

So... I'll bring two mods tomorrow. 7 and 29 but let's shoot for 7 at no later than 7... pm that is. ;)

No one says that we can't still convert our characters and play an old module to get a feel for the new rules. Because no one would know but ourselves.
