NEW GW SITE!

Postby pszito » Sun May 18, 2008 11:00 pm

Check it out y'all and weigh in! Let us all know what you think of it, besides it being slower (we all know that, lolz)

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/home.jsp

I'm back and forth on it. Give it a week of navigation and i'm sure i'll still like and hate it.

Quick review: Some tastier, deeper gaming morsels are included... just in no particular order and only 20 clicks later with 5 seconds of load time in between clicks. I'll honestly say i like the 'forum' or 'rumor page' overall ascetic they're gunning for (looking very much like many of the GW fan sites people frequent more than the GW page itself), but i can't get behind the lame drop-down menu navigation... with more product placement (on their OWN SITE mind you, as if you were going to forget why you were there in the first place so they'll keep showing you stuff until you remember?!?) than you can shake a well-loved dry brush at!

I heard that GW fired its whole website design team months ago. If that's true, then I must say that it explains a lot.
Old site took a little longer to get where you were going, but at least each page came up faster and it looked much nicer. Now it's mostly a glorified store.
However, I do like all the old bitz they're bringing back here. Dark Eldar Prisoners? Oh, you KNOW I'm already putting an order for these together. They'd make a great compliment to my Archon's Raider :D

The old site was better. It is such a pain to find the articles and they deleted allot of them it seems. I have been using the UK site. Its pretty much the same as the old US site except it has no deamon articles.

I was bummed that many of the articles were not moved to the new site, especially the Moulder Pitfighters rules. I wrote and asked about getting a copy and they said that all the old articles will eventually be posted. Apparently not with any haste, though.

In the meantime, if there were any articles you loved and miss, the old Autralian site is still active. I'd suggest going and saving everything you can to a disk just in case...
